Thank you to so many people who have helped us in so many ways!
- Scott’s doctors and medical team at Pittsburgh’s Children’s Hospital who continue to look for the cause of his symptoms and who are caring and dedicated.
- Neighbors Jon and Katie, for listening to our fears, helping us think through some scary scenarios, and caring for Lindsay (sometimes on short notice). Many, many thanks in particular to Jon, who faithfully transported Scott to speech therapy every week and who helps in so many other ways, both large and small. You’re our go-to guy, Jon!
- Brother Tom, who cheerfully drove Scott to countless therapy sessions, cared for Lindsay with great enthusiasm, and assisted in so many ways. We miss you!
- Family members Jeff, Angie, and Mike, who traveled across the country to be with us during Scott’s care conference in March of 2009 and who continue to offer emotional support and medical information.
- Jonathon, who provides medical expertise, moral support, and a great positive attitude.
- Jerry and Sue, who have been our rocks during some very difficult times. Thanks for talking us down on several occasions.
- Gene and Mary Jo, for always being willing to lend an ear and for sharing stories of hope.
- Grandpa G. (who passed away in December of 2009), Grant and Mary, and other family members for loving support and concern.
- Neighbors Alice and Jerry (who passed away in February of 2012) for taking Scott to his therapy sessions on short notice.
- Neighbor Bill who took Scott to therapies when his schedule allowed.
- Scott’s teachers and the administrators and staff of the Middle School for working with us and supporting him as his symptoms worsened in February and March of 2009. Thanks also for the Inspiration Award, which means so much to Scott.
- The staff and faculty of the Middle School and McMurray Elementary for their monetary gift to Scott.
- The teachers, administrators, and support staff at the high school who are dedicated to helping Scott achieve the most that he can.
- Scott’s sign language instructors at the high school for helping him learn a mode of communication that he may one day depend on.
- The therapists at Children’s Therapy Center, the Rehab Center at the Cameron Wellness Center, and school who were/are unfailingly enthusiastic, positive, and hard working.
- Personal trainers Joe J. and Chris E., who run Eruption Athletics and who are dedicated, caring, and cheerful in their work with special-needs children and adults.
- Friends and neighbors who are interested, concerned, and sympathetic.
- Scott’s old friends, who have never let the changes in his physical condition change their feelings about him.
- Scott’s new friends, who don’t let his difficulty hearing, talking, and walking get in the way of seeing the cool kid that he is.
- Scott’s dear friend, who asked Make-A-Wish to use her wish to find a diagnosis for Scott.
- Mary W. from Andrew’s Leap who kindly looked after Scott and made sure he was comfortable during his time at the program.
- John and Melissa H. (Hess Digital Memories) for introducing us to Tom and Marianne Anderson.
- Tom and Marianne Anderson for sharing their time and expertise with Scott.
- Joan D., for making her townhouse in Hilton Head available to us in 2009 and 2010. Her offer in March of 2009 came during some our darkest days and gave us something wonderful to look forward to.
- The Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia where we stayed in December of 2009 for a visit to a neurological specialist at Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia. We happened to be staying the night of the Christmas party and were thrilled when Santa had gifts for both Scott and Lindsay. It was a warm and welcoming place and so brightened an otherwise anxious time. If you have the opportunity to donate time or money to a Ronald McDonald House, please do!
Our apologies if we’ve omitted anyone!
