Scott’s health deteriorated in the fall of 2008 at the age of 13. It was not obvious, and, typical of a teenager, Scott hid most of it from us. Around Christmas of 2008, it became too noticeable for us to ignore. It was especially frightening in January through March of this year, when we could see him going downhill before our eyes. Thankfully, his condition stabilized in March.
What the problem is still eludes his doctors. I thought, mistakenly, that most conditions afflicting humans could be diagnosed these days. Boy, have I learned that neurology and genetics are fields where so much is still not known.
So we have started our diagnostic journey with Scott and have no idea where it will lead us.
